We have made it to August, the last full month of summer. Soon children will be going back to school; travel begins to slow down and in SoCal, the weather stays pretty much the same. While the season starts to come to end, there are plenty events in Orange County you can still enjoy. Take part in a festival, see art in new ways and consume fresh food. People who live in Orange County know that just because the calendar says summer is coming to an end, doesn’t mean it’s right.
There are plenty of events in Orange County that celebrate the continuation of summer.
All Shook Up: The Music of Elvis Presley | July 06- August 07
The Laguna Playhouse offers plenty of different shows throughout the year. During the month of July and into August, visitors will be treated to a show that the king would love. The musical is the story about a girl who is visited by Elvis himself. The musical is loosely based on Shakespeare’s play, Twelfth Night. Shows start at 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 5:30 pm, and 7:30 pm.
Farmers Park Market | Friday’s 5:00-9:00pm
Farmers markets are known for their support of local food growers and business owners in any community. However, the Farmers Park Market in the Anaheim Packing District has so much more to offer the community. Here, you’ll find food, fashion, crafts, yoga, entertainment and so much more.
Pageant of The Masters | July 07- August 31
There are plenty of things in Orange County that are world renowned. The art world is always a buzz when it comes to the Pageant of The Masters found as part of the Festival of Arts in Orange County. The pageant is a stage show where art is brought to life in new ways and leaves the audience in awe of the magic.
La Habra Corn Festival | August 05-07
El Centro Park in Orange County comes to life during the La Habra Corn Festival. This festival is a two-day carnival that includes a parade to welcome the fall season.
11th Annual Just Plein Fun | August 01-07
The Debra Huse Gallery can be found on Balboa Island in Orange County. The first week of August brings not only an art gallery but an art show. Inside the gallery, you’ll find artists painting original works of art from sunrise until sunset. You can purchase the art or just browse and admission is free.
Orange Crush Demolition Derby | August 10
The OC Fair has plenty of action and things to do, but on August 10th there is something even more special. Found in the Action Sports Arena, Derby cars will be crashing around the arena. The winner will be whoever is left standing at the end of the Derby.
Pet Fair Orange County | August 13
There is nothing like the sense of community found in the different parts of Orange County. One byproduct of that strong sense of community is the Pet Fair Orange County. The people who run the fair are all pet shop owners, charities, and groomers, and they do it for the pets of the area.
Long Beach Sand Sculpture Art and Music Festival | August 13-14
Orange County is full of sand, so during one weekend in August, we make art from that sand. Head to Long Beach for a weekend of art, music, craft beer, wine, and the best sand art you’ve ever seen.
Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo | August 27-28
Bring the entire family down to the rodeo of the year. In fact, the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo has been proclaimed to be one of the best rodeos in the nation. All the rodeo usuals will be found here, from bareback riding to bull riding and hog-tying and roping.
