Rancho Santa Margarita is one of Orange County’s youngest cities. With its masster planned feel within the rolling hills, it offers a tranquil retreat. Rancho Santa Margarita is surrounded by Mission Viejo on the west, Coto de Caza and Las Flores on the south, Trabuco Canyon on the north, and the Cleveland National Forest on the east.
There are three main communities within the city of Rancho Santa Margarita:
Dove Canyon is a private residential community located on the east side. With only 1,200 homes and 5,000 residents, it offers a small close knit feel. Included within the guard-gated entry is a Jack Nicklaus signature golf club, pool, tennis courts, a small child’s park, a wide field, a shopping center (just outside the entry), and a reservoir. The entire Dove Canyon area is comprised of single-family residences.
Rancho Cielo is smaller as well and located on the east side. There is a gated entry with a security guard and this area is located near the intersection of Plano Trabuco Road and Dove Canyon Drive. Rancho Cielo is all single family residences as well.
Robinson Ranch is a mid-sized community located on the northeast side of the city and is one of the older communities in RSM. This area offers several condominium areas and is nearby two large parks.
